It was a boring Monday morning, all the students in my class were sitting at their desks waiting for Mr Sim, our form teacher to begin the first lesson for the day—Civics and Moral Education.
In a startling turn of the moment when Mr Sim swung the door open and walked into class, we heard a loud “splash”! A shower of stale, soapy water drenched him with a musty stench. At first the whole class was horrified as we were afraid that he will be enraged. Peels of laughter broke out as we could not hold back the outburst upon seeing Mr Sim’s head completely covered by the inverted pail!
He stood speechless and motionless from the initial shock. “Who did this?” he choked in embarrassment. Slowly, his face turned from red to black. After an awkward silence, someone said, “Jimmy did it!” Yi Hong, the class monitor saw him chuckling in a corner.
After Mr Sim insisted that the culprit own up or the whole class will have to stay back after dismissal time, Jimmy finally confessed. He was punished for his act of mischief by cleaning the boys’ toilet on that floor for two weeks. It really doesn’t pay to play a nasty prank on your teacher, especially during Civics and Moral Education lesson!
